The artist Ben Buechner lives and works in Mallorca – surrounded by light, nature, and creative freedom.
His works consist of countless handmade butterflies that come together to form three-dimensional compositions. From a distance, the motifs appear to be painted – but up close, they reveal a fascinating depth of color, texture, and movement.
With his self-developed technique, cut-up art, Ben combines elements of pop art, painting, photography, sculpture, and spray technology to create a distinctive style.
His motifs: well-known icons, familiar everyday objects, or abstract forms, reimagined—interpreted by the swarm of butterflies that are the central symbols of his art.
They are symbols of change, transience, and new perspectives. In their multitude and arrangement, they tell stories of transformation, of harmony in the swarm, and of the power of the individual within the whole.

SYLT ART FAIR in List
For many years, Ben Buechner has been part of the renowned Sylt Art Fair in List/Sylt, one of the most important art exhibitions in northern Germany.
Every year, he presents his characteristic pop art works there.

from June to September alongside international greats such as Günther Uecker, Heinz Mack, Gerhard Richter, Damien Hirst, and Julian Schnabel. With his handcrafted swarms of butterflies, Ben has established himself as an integral part of this high-profile exhibition.

AIDA Artist
Latest news: Ben Buechner has been an official AIDA artist since 2025. A selection of his works can be viewed and purchased in the onboard art galleries of several cruise ships in the AIDA fleet, including AIDAcosma, AIDAprima, and AIDAnova. This puts Buechner in the company of well-known artists such as Devin Miles and Udo Lindenberg.
