Jeff Koons' whimsical Balloon Swan (Magenta) is a smaller version of the monumental Balloon Swan, which was produced in five unique color versions between 2005 and 2010. This work is made of porcelain with a magenta coating. Koons' artistry in this sculpture lies in his ability to illusionistically transform a hard MATERIAL into a seemingly malleable, inflated balloon, thus playing with the perception of the real and the imaginary.
